Travel question

I am wondering if anyone can help me out with the best way to get from Michigan to Cherokee, North Carolina with a motorhome. I DO NOT want to take I-75 through Ohio, construction everywhere. Like to avoid big cities if possible, would rather drive a little farther than get caught up in city traffic. Any help would be great.

Travel question

Cut southeastward through Ohio on some US Highways. I've found those to be pretty good roads throughout the Midwest. Pick up I-77 south to I-81 south, then I-26 toward Asheville. At Asheville take I-40 west to where US74 branches off about 20 miles west of Asheville. From there I don't know the roads. US 19 through Maggie Valley is more direct to Cherokee, but may be a bit snug for some RVs. Someone will chime in.
