I hope you mean US 36 instead of I-36.
We did that route a few years back and it was the worst day's drive I have ever spent. I understand the road has been resurfaced since then but it was BAD back then. For some reason we did not go through Hannibal, but dropped down to I-70 to cross in St Louis.
We did pass through the little town were General "Black Jack" Pershing lived, but that was little compensation for the ride.

Unless you have some particular reason to take US36, I would think you'd have a quicker and easier trip by sticking with I80 to I74.

I've heard enough. I-80 to I-74 it is.. Thanks guys. I'm always looking for different routes as long as they are easy and peaceful. Google maps says it's shorter in miles, and a few minutes longer in time.

+1 on I-80 to I-74. Not a problem. Not especially scenic, unless you've never seen corn, in which case you'll be astounded..

If you call it Maze it makes it go by quicker.

What's more astounding is that a hefty percentage of the corn you see is cattle feed.
