Don't fill up in PA, MD or WV. There is a Flying J at the 1st exit in VA (exit 323). Hopefully you have the FJ credit card so you save 8 cents off cash on diesel or 6 cents off on gas.

Exit 222 Stauton has a good WalMart for overnights.

Some hills near the TN/VA border but a very easy ride.

Been exactly the way you're going twice in the last year and a half.

Road conditions are pretty good and the scenery is too!

Stopped at a nice rv campground near Luray Caverns off I81 on the way down.

Just did that trip in February coming back from florida to Atlanta to Knoxville and home to southern NJ outside Phila. Road is great, no problems. Agree concerning the gas. Rest areas in Va are good, plenty of Cracker
Barrels for overnighting. Have used them a lot. I have a 32' Class A gasser and was pretty much able to maintain my 2200 rpm/65 mph and get consistent gas mileage. Enjoy and lots to look at. Oh yeah forgot to mention that it snowed the whole way home, just wet on roads but created some really nice scenery.
