Travelling from Kelowna BC to Florida - Oct 2017

We are planning a 5 month adventure starting from Kelowna, BC down the Oregon Coast via Hwy 101 to California. Where is the best point to jump off 101 to start our journey East. We want to avoid snow and big city congestion if possible. Which Hwy provides the best scenery between Hwy 10 and 40 enroute to Florida? Any suggestions would be great!

Welcome to iRV2.

In October , snow should not be an issue anywhere on the 101 , late November maybe . Or the summit on the Connector or the Coke, if your going to the coast that way.
If your planning on I-5 to get to the Oregon coast , use the 405 to get around Seattle and the 205 around Portland.
It's been 20+ years since I've driven the 101 in OR, and I haven't been east of Phoenix/ Tucson/Flagstaff in AZ , so I'll let others comment on conditions there.

BTW. I lived in Kelowna for 55 years ; they wouldn't name a street after me so I left town.

Chuck , the OP hasn't been back to the forums since the day he posted so not sure if he's getting info elsewhere.

Anyway , went across to PEI & NS , started out in Aug. 2010. Lot of areas I'd like to get to see again. We dropped through Michigan and the area around Traverse City is one . Warning though if the Gaspe is part of your plan the road along the St.Lawrence is the worst we found anywhere . Only place I've seen where signs warn that you could be washed off the road by waves.
Also after Labor Day many RV parks in Canada and the New England states start to close for the winter .

Safe travels .

Just back from the Shuswap in British Columbia. We were dry camping with no wifi. I've been playing with Good Sam Trip Planner over the past couple of days.

From Kelowna, take 97 south to US84. Head west towards Portland, take
bypass towards Seattle. Head north towards Kelso and take Hwy 30 to
Astoria, Wash. Start your 101 trip from there.
Stay on 101 down to Hwy 12 and cross over to US5 or 99.
You can start heading east on US 40.
On your return either come across 10 or 90 depending on time
of year and weather.
