Just a FYI.. The Tappan Zee Bridge is under construction. Maybe a traffic jam from time to time ..
I'll second the Aces High campground . Large spaces and mostly level, good pool

Hi Bokobird. I was born and raised in Milford and went back last year to see how the place has changed or not. I was stuck on I95 north bound from the NY border to Milford for almost 2 hours. I don't know what CT is spending their tax money on but it isn't that road. I guess you can't go home again. South bound took me 3 hours to get to northern NJ. 287 to 87 might not take so long when you compare it to the time stuck in traffic on I-95. I would be a nervous wreck driving on the Cross Bronx expressway portion of I-95.

The Cross Bronx Expressway has to be one of the worst hwys in the US. You feel like the road is beating your coach to death. It no better on I-95 through CT until you get to I-91. The Tappan Zee bridge is much better as far as traffic is concerned.

I see backups on 95 north every Friday, it's a guarantee. And I'm talking from 11 am on, it's not a rush-hour thing. Like driving westbound on 84 into Waterbury on a Friday afternoon, another total backup. Road repairs are problematic in this state, no doubt about it.

FWIW the Cross Bronx Expressway is almost totally repaved now. Unfortunately I drive on it 2-3x a week. With that being said, I would still drive the 30 miles or so out of the way to take I84 instead of I95 in that area. The traffic on I95 through CT is almost unbearable, and though the GPS will pick it because it is shorter mileage, it will certainly take more time. I prefer to keep moving rather than start and stopping.

Yes it will be worse near the weekend. Everyone is heading to Rhode Island and Cape Cod for the weekend. Typically, the road between NY and New Haven is like a parking lot, it seems to free up a bit after New Haven. That's why I like 84, it circumnavigates the whole mess.
