Howdy all. Getting ready to retire and am planning a trip to Sioux Falls, SD to establish residency there starting about the 18th of Oct. I'll be heading out from the Fredericksburg, VA area. Has anyone made that trip or part of and have some interstate recommendations either pro or con.

Look this over - MAP - https://binged.it/2Vcvs0p - avoids the Toll Roads and the Big Cities that make this drive a Pain. (JMHO)

IMHO most of the I's in the east have been waiting for federal Infrastructure money and almost all are in need of work - so if not in a great hurry you could poke out onto a few farm routes and get a smoother ride.

Winter could come at any time on the end of your trip as these areas are not that predictable IMHO, so keep the weather in Mind

. (Most likely this will not be an issue.....but)

Where are you headed next - How much time do you have?

I would surely watch the weather closely and check to make sure campgrounds are open. Many close mid/end Sept.

Can't recommend any roads. Someone will.

Very similar to Busskeeper.

I-70 to I-68 to I-79 to I-70 to I-74 to I-80.

We usually go to Iowa City then go north on I-35 to I-90 west to Sioux Falls.

We do this trip in late October round trip and have not had problems finding places to stay.
