I'm trying to layout an upcoming trip and am looking for a decent website to do route planning. HELP!!!!!!!

I'll normally use Google or the old version of Mapquest. I am trying to use the Good Sam planner as well. The Good Sam planner has some very good options, but it is cumbersome and frustrating. It has campgrounds and POI's but really no way to move and save them on a separate page except as a waypoint for later review. It also is difficult if not impossible to revert to the original directions after dragging a route differently if you change your mind.

Yes, I do a general then 'final' mapping on paper maps, usually with a Michelin road atlas plus their #761 USA map along with individual state maps if I have them.

We do not/will not use smart phones as we don't need them in our usual daily life.

Yes, we do use an RV GPS, a Garmin 760RV

We choose a destination point than google a path. Then look at the path for places to see or visit while on our way to the destination. Then I load this information into the 760 GPS. The copilot likes the paper map and follows along. She has a smart phone and this is used only if needed.

We use the computer researching points of interest and plan the trip as time permits. Set our ETA some days traveling more then others limiting not to exceed 300 miles per/day

Since you have a Garmin RV760 one choice would be Base Camp. There is a steep learning curve, but once you have your route the way you want it you can import it to your 760.

Sounds like I need to spend some more time with the 760 and what it can do !! Hope I can climb that learning curve mountain

There are some knowledgeable members to answer questions, and there are also some excellent tutorials on how to use Base Camp.

One thing you'll need to do is download the latest map update to your computer.

I'll take a look this evening when I fire up the laptop with 7 or freebie 10. The ancient desktop is still in prehistoric XP land (if it isn't broken don't try to fix it). Also, Garmin wont update maps on XP and that too needs to be done on the laptop.

I had to bite the bullet and buy a new laptop when they went on sale (x-mas present to self) Much, Much, faster when loading maps.

I've not found anything as good as classic MapQuest
for trip planning.

I really like the looks of RV Trip Wizard! I haven't tried it, still using the trip planner in my RM RVND7710.

I use a subset of Google Maps called My-Maps where you can create a map with up to 10 stops, locations or way-points and then save it to the Google Drive.

You can also export a KML file to your PC and then upload to your RV760 GPS. Since it comes into the RV760 as way-points I then use the RV760 Trip-Planner App to layout my entire trip from beginning to end.

Here are two examples of a trip from Anchorage Alaska to Dansville New York.

Have to agree with Joe, RV Trip Wizard! I've used it for years. I like to limit the "distance per day" and Trip Wizard's "concentric Circles" (which you can set their range) makes that task very easy! It is a subscription service but I think it is well worth it! And No, I don't try loading points into our Garmin. Once the trip is laid out, I print the trip into an Excel format (Trip Wizard has that ability) and then print it out. I have campground addresses, telephone numbers, ETC. Then I plug the next CG address into the Garmin and we're off...

It looks like I'll have a few more ways to attempt to do my planning though may not go beyond the trial on RV Trip Wizard for a couple months. I've bled about as many 'idle' dollars as I can and still eat this month
