U.S. 2 is a good 2 lane road that follows the Middle Fork of the Flathead River for a good portion of the 54 mile distance from East Glacier to West Glacier. At about the halfway point (25.6 mi from E. Glacier) is Goat Lick, an outcropping of rock that mountain goats are often spotted licking minerals. A parking area and a short trail takes you to the overlook.
In an RV it's really the best way from one side of the park to the other. The park road, "Going to the Sun Road" is closed to RVs, trailers, etc. The other alternative is MT 200, but that is so far south and longer than the first to ways across the mountains.

U.S. 2 is approved for semis, so yes it is safe for your RV. It does not pass through Glacier, it skirts the southern edge.
FWIW, a truckers road atlas will show highways safe for semi's in yellow highlight, thus safe for RV's of any size.

We did Rt.2 last year, east to west. It's fine for RVs. We stayed at Glacier Meadow, on route 2 in Essex, MT.

If you want more of U.S. 2, driving it all across the country is awesome.

I was on US 2 last summer and we really liked it. Plenty to see and some interesting stops. I did it with a 43' plus toad.
We stayed at Columbia Falls RV park.

No problems with route 2. Plenty of fuel along the way.

We did Rt 2 from Columbia Falls to Browning when we left Glacier a couple of years ago. Good road, nice ride.

What sort of road is hwy 2 between Columbia Falls and Browning? Is there any steep drop offs that my wife will have to look over and freak out, Steep grades etc.
It does not bother me but the wife is very afraid of steep drop offs. We drove the Oregon coast and she was ok there.
Thanks.

There are no steep drop-offs. If your wife wasn't bothered by the Oregon coast you can stop worrying.
