Your rig description is not in you signature, but I drove the part of 64 from Cimarron to Angel Fire in my 45', towing F150. It is very curvy between Cimarron and Eagle Nest but doable. It's slow but there are ample pullover sites along the way. You are actually passing through Cimarron State Park. Once you get to Eagle Nest is easy again.
I do not recommend 58. It is very narrow, has no shoulder, and the edge drops off. It was very unpleasant.
