US-93

DW is our map person. She found US-93 as a more direct route from SW Idaho to Vegas than I-15. Does anyone have experience with this road? Is I-15 worth the extra miles?

We will be headed from SW Idaho to Texas the end of November and probably don't want to do Wyoming.

93 south out of Twin falls to Ely. 6 then 318 out of Ely. Rejoin 93 north of Ash Springs. 93 to I 15 to Vegas. Driven it 4 times over the last 2 years. Good 2 lane road.

I can't answer your question directly ... but Google Earth will give you a lot of insight. If you use [get directions] and enter pt A to pt B it will show the route for you ... if you right click on the route and then left click on show elevation it will show the elevations and the grades as you move the cursor along the route ... moreover, if you move the little yellow man icon to the route ... you can "drive" the route ... this generally helps me decide whether or not I want to drive this route. This gives you an idea of how wide the lanes are and whether or not there are decent shoulders.

As a side note, my uncle, now deceased, used to drive US 93 between Las Vegas and Jackpot with his travel trailer twice a year ... his comment was make sure you don't run out of gas ...

skigramp great info
That's a good tool, but it won't do it for me. Do you have a google map up grade?

Agree with Flyboy 757. I have also driven this same route many times. Good road.

Reviews of RV Parks and Campgrounds - RV Park Reviews

RV Parks in Twin Falls, just south of town, at the casino in Jackpot and as mentioned above.... Wells and Ely. Fuel very expensive in Jackpot. Gas in Twin Falls, Wells and Ely.

Safe trip

We did the trip from Wells,NV to Kalispell,MT. We took Rt. 75 from Shoshone to Challis then back on 93. It was a great trip. We spent 2 nights at Challis Valley RV Park in Challis. The owners are the greatest people (owners) we have ever met. I hope to do that trip again.

There is a new RV Park in Alamo. Behind Grocery and Sinclair.
