Has anyone travelled this route ? Am planning to in 2014. Would appreciate any information on road surface, fuel, campgrounds, etc.

Thanks,

Mostly 2 lane hills are not bad. Found cheapest diesel in Beatty. Death Valley is on your left, might be warm.

Frans Ranch near Beatty is not an RV park, it is a brothel. Just adding local color.

We've taken this route quite a few times. We have always just driven the route with no over night stops (about 440 miles). If you need a place approximately half way you can try the Ramada Tonopah Station Tonopah Nevada Hotels - Tonopah Station, Tonopah's only casino hotel Casino Nothing fancy for sure, but a place to stop for the night with hookups.

We take this route often. Good road, light traffic, great view. We usually stop in Hawthorne at Whiskey Flats. We go all the way to Fallon then US50, US50alt to I-80 and into Reno.

We have used 95 several times and it is a good choice. Sometimes we'll go up 93 and then over to Tonopah and up 95. About 10 (maybe a lot more) miles east of Tonopah is a rest area and we have over nighted in this one several times and we were the only ones there. Good if you dry camp and do not feel a need for security the RV parks give you.

we stopped at millers' rest stop in that area. it had free overnight boondocking and 2 dump stations with good tasting potable water.

go very slow in tonapah and the other small towns on this route. they are all after the $$$ from tourists and truckers.
