US Hwy 2

We are traveling from Virginia to Wisconsin and then on to northern California (beautiful Mount Shasta). Upon leaving Wisconsin, we are thinking of taking US Hwy 2. Any advice/recommendations/words of wisdom or caution? Thanks!

We drove US 2 from Bismark ND to Everett WA in 2010. It was a very nice drive with great scenery. Most of the road is 2 lane, there are a lot of curves around Glacier National Park but very drive able. Since you are going to Northern California you may want to get off US 2 once you reach Spokane WA. US 2 between Spokane and Everett crosses Stevens Pass, highest pass in Washington it is drive able but will take you further north than you may want to go. From Spokane you can take I-90 east to US 395 south then continue south on I-82 to the junction with I-84. From there it is a nice drive through the Columbia River Gorge to Portland OR where you can pick up I-5 and head south to the Mount Shasta area.

We've traveled almost the entire length of 2 and enjoyed it.

It's mostly 2 lane but very little traffic and some nice small towns along the way.

We drive US 2 from Everett to Montana quite a bit. Have made the trip as far east as Minot, N.D. Great drive, great trip. Remember the view never changes if you don't get off the interstate.
