US Hwy 285 north from Albur to Colorado

Is this hwy a suitable two lane or would 25 north be better to travel
we are running from rio rancho new mexico to just west of del norte colrado

mountain west directory

The Mountain West Directory shows no mountain passes between Albuquerque and Alamosa, CO

I have only travelled this road north of Alamosa so I have no first hand information ... but I trust MWD info
