We will be leaving from Zion and headed via I-15/I-70 to Capital Reef, staying 2 nights in Torrey. Then we will head to Moab. Just wondering what Hwy 24 is like.

It's a decent road. Here is a mile-by-mile look:

You should have no problems traveling it.

Agreed, 24 is a good 2 lane road. But, unless you have a particular reason for taking 15 to 70 (time?), I'd recommend a scenic day trip east on 9 to Ut 89(heading north), hang a right on Ut 12 through Bryce Canyon NP then north into Torrey...good roads as well. UT 12 is one of our favorite scenic routes of all time.

Agreed. Take Hwy 12 to Torrey. It's an awesome drive.

I couldn't agree with you more. We were there for a week last Oct. We worked the 89/12 corridor pretty good. Staged from Kodachrome Basin SP. It left us wanting to see more of UT. I have 12 days to see Zion, Capital Reef, and Moab, before I have to be in Phoenix for the 2nd of a two race trip. The 1st race is in Parker, AZ.

Sounds like 24 is doable. I assumed it was since there are several RV resorts along the way, but there's nothing like peoples personal experiences.Thanks for the information.

We have a 40 ft Pacifica and we tow a Jeep. Last year we drove Zion to Bryce. Zion we stayed at Zion River Resort in Virgin and that was pefect for us. We were too tall to go thru tunnel on 9 so went down and around via 59/AZ 389/89 to 12 and it was all fine. About 3 hours drive.

From Bryce we drove to Torrey but took 12/89/62 to 24. Bryce everyone stays at Ruby's it seems, we did. Nice thing to know about at Bryce is the Rainbow Tour, it is free and leaves right from Ruby's Ask at the booth to the right of the front office at Ruby's and you can book space. It goes all the way to end of road in Bryce on a bus with a great guided tour and it doesn't cost anything. And they drop you back right across the street from Ruby's. About 3 hours long. Since we are so long with the tow we didn't want to drive 12 full way to Torrey. We drove the Jeep on lots of 12 both out of Torrey and Bryce and it is gorgeous. We stayed at Thousand Lakes RV in Torrey and thought it was good. Nice people work there.

From Torrey to Moab took 24 to 70 and then down to Moab. 70 was pretty scenic. We stayed at Moab Valley RV Resort and thought it was pretty nice. We ended up a week in Moab because we loved the area so much. Don't miss Dead Horse State Park, it is like a mini Grand Canyon but more up close and personal. We loved it.

Would this route be doable with a 34' gasser and toad?

Reubanray: Yes, it's a good route for all sizes of RVs.

twogypsies is correct. It would be very doable with a 34 ft gasser and toad. We enjoyed the smaller roads rather than going out to the larger highway and back. From Zion to Bryce you can go thru the Mt. Carmel tunnel on Hwy 9 and save time. We went around because we are very tall and just didn't want to take the chance. We are 40 ft. long and pull a Jeep Wrangler. So for that trip I would recommend you go Hwy 9 to 89N to 12. Hwy 9 is very scenic, we drove most of it in the Jeep. It gets a bit twisty and turny at places but nothing you couldn't handle in a 34 ft. But if you don't like that in your RV then just go around like we did and it adds about an hour, but very easy to do. We had no issues at all. Enjoy your trip,

We will be coming from the Page, AZ area traveling up Hwy 89 to stay at Ruby's for 6 nights. We plan to explore Zion, Bryce plus whatever else that is close by from Ruby's. We will then drive this route to Moab for 5 nights stopping at Thousand Lakes RV Park for one night. I will have to double check my fuel status more, being I will be off the main drag.
