At Albuquerque you could go north on I-25 to Santa Fe...
  • native art on Palace of Presidents
  • Georgia O'Keefe art gallery and museum
  • church with spriral stair case
  • historic LaFonda hotel (pastry shop for sure)
  • round state capital
  • three museum on the hill above the capital

You could return to I-40 on the turquise trail (NM-14) which is a national scenic byway.

If you haven't been to the Grand Canyon it's not too far off I40. If you are interested in native american stuff there is Walnut Canyon NM and Wupatki NM around Flagstaff. The Petrified Forest NP is just east of Hollbrook, AZ on I40. Way more things to see in the time you have available.
