Not sure what you're asking. CA 126 does run from Ventura to I-5 at the 172 exit. I-15 is the main interstate to Las Vegas. You'll still have to figure out where to get off I-5 since I-5 doesn't join I-15 until San Diego.

TIA-
IMHO the way to go would be US 101 to CA 126 east, CA 126 east to I-5 south about 8 miles to CA 14 north, north on CA 14 to CA 58 east (intersection south of Mojave, CA), then CA 58 east to Barstow and I-15 north to Lost Wages.

CA 126 is freeway to Santa Paula. Through Santa Paula and east to I-5 it is not freeway but 4 lane. From Mojave to Barstow it is 4 lane or freeway, except possibly for about 5 miles either side of US 395.

Crap. I meant I-15. Gotta stop having beer for breakfast.

I will look at the other post and check the route.

Cool. Thanks. I guess my original post should have been, Ventura to Vegas, what's the route?

That's the way I'd do it. They just added a stretch of freeway to replace old two lane going into Barstow from the west. Still 2 lane from Boron to HWY 395 and about 7 miles after 395.

Jake,

We have taken this road many times and it typically is a great drive. You may need to watch your speed they are a little over the top on that road.
Nice country type road which is unusual for Southern CA. Once you hit the 5 off the 126 head south to the 210 and hug the mountains to the 15 north if you want to get a little farther east. You can always go up the 14 to the 58 and head east to the 15 from there as well.
Which ever way you choose, have a wonderful trip.
Safe Travels

Thanks. I was also worried about the morning traffic, but google maps show all is clear at 7:30am today. We plan on leaving at 6:30am tomorrow. Good timing or will I need to go earlier to avoid the morning commuters?

I used to commute over the pass where I5 hits Ca14 and I210 and from about 6am to 8am that route is heavy traffic. When I lived in Castaic, which is in the North side of hwy 126 where it meets I5, I would go North on I5 up the grapevine to CA 138 just below Gorman. It was an easy drive across on 138 to CA14 just above Palmdale then North to Mojave where you catch CA58. I drove that in a 33ft class A pulling a C-RV with a 275hp V10 Ford. The hill was not a problem if you avoid getting behind slow trucks. Hope tou have a great trip.

Thanks all. Drive completed and zero traffic. All good at 104 degrees. Argh!
