Virginia to Bangor

We're traveling from Virginia to Bangor. Does anyone have any suggestions where to stay close to Bangor with two big rigs? Thanks, Suzan

Do you mean Bangor, Maine or Bangor, PA, Bangor WA or some other Bangor? If you are referring to Bangor, Maine, do you intend to travel in the near future or during the summer months? Be advised that if you plan to visit Bangor, Maine during this time of the year in an RV, you will indeed be in for a surprise!! There are NO camping facilities open until around the middle to the end of May. Also, with the temps. sometimes falling into the single numbers during this time of the year, staying warm might pose a challenge. I am orginally from Bangor,Maine and only visit during the two days of summer, July 4th and 5th if lucky!!

I highly recommend The Pumpkin Patch RV Park in Hermon (suburb of Bangor) This is mainly an adult park, so not much for children to do, but there are others within the Bangor city limits that have more amenities for the younger set. We stay at the Pumpkin Patch on a regular basis, and use it for our "home park" while visiting relatives and old haunts, but really enjoy cruising the coast. If you would like additional information about the area/s, shoot me an e-mail and I would be more than happy to respond. BTW, we are now planning out annual visit this summer as I read your earlier post.

Thanks for sharing your recommendation. We'll have Mom with us, almost 90 years old, returning home to visit her family and friends after 40 years away. Sounds like a great campground for the trip. Happy planning & let's hope for good weather!

We stayed at "Pleasant Hill, RV Park", in 2008, on our way to Nova Scotia. Had a very pleasant stay and would recommend them anytime. However, they don't open, until May 1. You can look them up at www.campgroundreviews.com.

Good luck.

Thank you for the recommendation for Pleasant Hills. Contacted them via e-mail and they were very helpful. fyi for those considering this spring/summer, they recommended making reservations soon via their website as they are a very busy location.
