I've driven I-10 many times and the only thing that bothers me is the 80 mph speed limit from west of Kerrville to almost El Paso. I don't drive near that fast!

A beautiful ride, mostly 4 lane with slowdowns thru towns, but the trip from Show Low to Globe, AZ is among the most scenic drives we have ever taken. Salt River gorge is quite a drop and climb out, but SPECTACULAR.
If you decide to "go around" for the scenic splendor it provides, this route is absolutely no problem for even a 45ft rig w/toad even through the highly over-hyped Show Low - Globe via Salt River gorge section. Also US82 through Cloudcroft into Alamogordo is a no-brainer for 45ft and towing.
