I live in Fairbanks and there is an amazing array of campers at Wally World all summer. Right now there are a number of them that are old junky rigs with tarps over the top to stop leaks and they have generators on the ground powering them as needed. There are of course the big DPs there also. It looks as much like a campground right now as a store parking lot. Some of these older rigs are people up here doing summer work and that is their home.

We were just in Fairbanks a few days ago. Could not believe the RV's in the parking lot. Looked more like an RV Junk Yard than a parking lot.

I'm always appreciative of WalMarts for providing parking. We got into Bend, Oregon a couple of weeks ago much later than planned (around 11:00pm), and as soon as we pulled into the campground we'd paid for, I realized that we were going to wake up tons of people trying to tuck our coach into the space they gave us (limited light is great for sleeping, not so great for backing up). So we quickly turned around, went to the Walmart half a mile away, tucked in with the rest of the folks, and got to sleep (and then did our shopping in the morning).

Classy move. You deserve our respect. Would that some others had the same consideration!

I think the one in Whitehorse was more crowded with RV's than the one in Fairbanks. It looked like an RV sales lot. Several trailers unhooked and apparently unattended. I like looking at RV's but that was a pretty sad looking display of RV's. Just my opinion but I wouldn't be surprised if they soon ban overnight parking at that location - that's what I'd do if it were my property.

We pulled into a Walmart back east in Massachusetts a few years back. As soon as I pulled into the lot (well after dark) I noticed a sign that said "No Overnight Parking". As I was turning around to leave, I see the little Walmart security car with the blinking green lights headed straight toward me. He sort of cut me off at the exit and got out of his car. I was slightly upset thinking he was going to yell at me for trying to park when, in reality, I was trying to leave. I opened my window and he said "looking for a place to overnight"? I told him I was, but saw the sign. He said "follow me". He took me around in back of the store and parked me beside two semi-trailers. He said "the locals will never find you here." I thanked him and spent a great night!
