Exclamation WARNING - I-10 in SoCal OPEN, Restricted to 1 Lane - WARNING

UPDATE: Fri 07/24: Open to 1 lane for each direction of travel - on the west bound side from Chiriaco Summit (Exit 173) to SR177 (Exit 192).

Just happened late this afternoon - Between Coachella and the AZ border.

CalTrans Quote:
"The 10 (freeway) is a dire situation,”
Caltrans is diverting eastbound traffic on Highway 86. Drivers coming in to California should take Arizona Route 95 to Interstate 40. Otherwise they will hit a closure at Rice Road and be stuck.

Just saw this on the nightly news. Notice the vehicle in the water that was on the bridge when it collapsed. Ouch.

Latest is it should be open, a single lane in each direction, by noon on Friday.

With all the traffic that road gets, there will be some huge backups with only one lane open each way.

UPDATE: I 10 Reopened!
Rand McNally has made an update available reflecting the reopening of I-10 in Southern California. Officials are creating a crossover that will allow both directions of traffic to use the westbound side of the I-10 bridge.
To get the construction update on your GPS device, you must connect to the Rand McNally Dock. To update tablets, connect to Wi-Fi.
As a reminder, connect your GPS device to the Dock once a month to receive ongoing construction information provided by Rand McNally.
Thank you,
The Rand McNally Support Team

Reopened

Yep...from Caltrans:
"I 10
[IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA]
TRAFFIC IS REDUCED TO 1 LANE IN EACH DIRECTION FROM CHIRIACO SUMMIT
TO THE JCT OF SR 177 (RIVERSIDE CO) - DUE TO A WASHOUT "

Current Conditions

So...That's Exit #173 to Exit #192 - It's going to pose back-ups and congestion.
But better than going all the way to I-8 or I-40, I guess.

Safe travels
