As pops2 stated, Hwy-37 (Cassiar Hwy) is paved all the way except for about 2 miles through the valley where you cross the Stikine river. I have traveled this route numerous times by car, motorcycle and in our 42 ft DP and the road has always been in good condition except early spring 2008 where a small section of frost heave had not yet had its annual repair.
There is free overnight parking at Jade City plus a small number of basic RV parks, such as at Dease Lake. Though I have not used it, I am told that there is a small area near Bell Crossing with free overnight parking. The Provincial Park at the Hwy-37 & Hwy-37A junction (Mesiadan Junction) is also a good place to stop.
In 2008, when traveling by motorcycle in mid-May I counted cars passing in the opposite direction and wildlife sightings along the entire highway (450 mi) and the cars had the highest count, but only by one. It is a great road for seeing wildlife. I personally have seen caribou, moose, black bears, river otters, deer, porcupines, a wolf and more along here. A side trip to Hyder, AK (Hwy-37A to Stewart and Hyder) is worth the time and effort, especially at this time of the year, as you'll likely see bears feeding on salmon just north of the town at Fish Creek.
We travel this route either north or south bound each time we go to Alaska or the Yukon.
Sorry, I don't know what the specific places are that do or don't have cellular service along the route.
