Texas has some of the most beautiful old courthouses in the country. A little travel to the more obscure of Texas' 254 counties will reward the traveler with some amazing old structures.

This courthouse has an interesting story. It seems as though the young stone cutter who worked on the stone work fell in love with the mayor's beautiful daughter. He carved her image across from his image on one of the 4 entry archways. She spurned his affections and he got even by carving her image in the other 3 entrys slowly making her image more and more grotesque. When his work was discovered he was thrown out of town. The photos are of some of his work, the first being the face of his love in the begining.
