West Yellowstone, Salt Lake to Williams AZ

Fortunate to have a sabbatical from work this summer and we are making a western run from PA.

Our plans have us heading to Mt. Rushmore, followed by Yellowstone. We are staying at Grizzly park in West Yellowstone.

From there our plans are to head south to the Grand Canyon, most likely hitting ZION and possibly Hoover damn on the way. We will be staying at the Grand Canyon Railway park.

We are good on our travels to Rushmore and Yellowstone, just not sure on the travels from West Yellowstone south.

Could really use some advice on safe routes, traveling in a 39' gas motorhome pulling a small truck.

Easiest route is W. Yellowstone south (west) on US 20 to Idaho Falls and I 15. No mountain passes or big hills.

Yep, US20 to I-15 and take it all the way to Vegas. In Vegas follow US93 (I-515) south to Boulder City and over the dam to Kingman.

South out through Jackson Hole is pretty cool way to exit also. When you come in from the East and if you are going to traverse the Big Horn mountains, 16 out of Buffalo WY, is the best. 14 is doable but not recommended and 14A is a no go with a rig unless you're an adrenaline junky. The S/E gate into YS near Wapiti is a good one 'cause you come through Cody. Lots of stuff to see in Cody if you have the time. If your are in a rig, stay away from Bear Tooth Pass in the N/E corner, BUT in a car it is a best kept secret. Absolutely beautiful, but no place for a rig. Love that part of the country. Go there a lot

Head from Grizzly to Idaho Falls, Idaho and then follow you GPS to Pocatello, Id and then to Salt Lake City. Take I-15 south to south of Cedar City, Ut. approx. 25 miles to turn off to Zions. Approx 12 miles from Zions is Zion River RV Resort. Beautiful park. You won't be disappointed. Ask for Black Hawk or his wife Mason. They manage the park and tell them Kent from Salt lake recommended U stay there. When you leave you just take I-15 to Las Vegas and to Hoover Damn. From there you casn plan your route/trip to GC.
