Hello, we are traveling to Richmond, VA next week.
This is the route we have used in years past with our travel trailer. Now with the motorhome I am wondering of there are any reasons not to take this route?

The route we normally take is:
I-78 West out to Harrisburg
I-81 South (for less then 10 miles)
Rt. 15 South to Fredrick, MD
Continue on Rt.15 South to Leesburg, VA
Rt.15 & Rt.29 South to Warrenton, VA
Rt.17 South to Fredericksburg, VA
Then I-95 South to Richmond

Here is a link to the route. Click here

Thanks ..

I guess that I would probably stay on I-81 to Staunton, VA then take I-64 over to Richmond. This would keep you away from local traffic, that look around Harrisburgh and Pa-15 which I dislike. As of last week, the construction areas between Carlisle and the VA line are pretty clear sailing. And Virginia - nice smooth asphalt. It is probably 50+/- miles more, but the personal wear and tear reduction would, IMO, be worth the distance.

Another would be to do the I-66 way to save a few miles

Thanks for the input .. Going I-81 to I-64 is around 100 miles more, 336 vs. 425

Not to mention the mountain climb on I-64 between I-81 and Charlottesville. Been there!!

Now I-81 to I-66 might work...

Thanks again..
