Which Mapping site to use (google, Good Sam, AAA, ???)

I am planning a trip from Joplin, MO to Custer, SD and I have tried several different mapping sites and each on gives me a different route (google, Good Sam and AAA). I know there are tunnels in SD and I think Good Sam is routing me around them but its directions are difficult. What site has worked well for you when mapping a route for your RV? I have a Winn. Access 31J which is 30 ft long and 10'11" high.

Hi FORTHEKIDS,
If you stay on Federal Highways you should be okay. Federal Highways are to have a minimum 13' 6" clearance. If you have a GPS device, consider setting it to "Fastest Route". That should keep you on the major roads.

You could also download the 60 day trial version of MS Street and Trips, and also download the PIO's for truckers. With this mapping software you can plan your trip on RV suitable roads.

There is information at

==> http://www.nps.gov/moru/index.htm

and

==> http://gfp.sd.gov/state-parks/directory/custer/default.aspx

and print yourself a map of the area ... here is one ...

==> http://www.blackhillsbadlands.com/home/planyourtrip/maps/sdbhprintmap

I have been to the Black Hills several times ... there are tunnels ... on the needles highway and near the pigtail bridge ...

Make make sure you see the lighting of Mount Rushmore at dusk ... I suggest you take some apples to feed the burros when you travel to see the bison ...

Have a great time ...
