Welcome to IRV2. You will find a lot of helpful folks on this forum. We did our first Yellowstone trip last year and it was a blast.
I can't tell you much about getting there from the West since we live in the East. I can strongly suggest you do a search on 'Yellowstone' and you will find a bunch of information. Anything written by one of our members, Cruzer, will be most helpful. He has traveled extensively in that area and has a web site with great info. on YS, the Beartooth Mountains, etc.

Try and see Cody, WY if you can. They have the Cody night rodeo and the famous museum. You then come into the park from the east. When you get there try and stay at Madison campground near the West entrance to the park. From there you can take the northern loop one day and then the southern loop that includes Old Faithful the second day. When you leave the park take the southern entrance to the park toward Jackson. It takes you along the Grand Tetons and Jenny Lake. Beautiful views.

Also rest your weary bones in the Thermopolis hot springs on the way to Cody.
There are some other posts that mention that the power is out at the Fishing Bridge Campground this summer.
If you need to make reservations for Fishing Bridge, June 15 - July 15 reservations open on Feb. 15. You have to move quick if you want a spot there as they sell out quickly.
Definitely leave the rig in the campground and take the bus tours of the lower and upper loops.

U.S. 89 is big rig friendly. In WY 189 is also big rig friendly, and it misses most of the big mountainous areas. Sounds like you have a good plan.

I would recommend a minimum of 4 days for Yellowstone and do not miss the Beartooth Hwy drive...they were still skiing in July last year.

Yellowstone is our most favorite park. We've spent close to 100 days there over the years. Check out RVcruzer.com - Driving Routes for Large RVs into Yellowstone National Park for details on driving routes in and around Yellowstonerfor RVs. If you want a pictorial of what you'll see, try Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and the Beartooths.
You are going to have a great time. Just don't cut yourself short on time. It's a big area and there's so much variety to see and it'll take time to drive it.

The first part of June will be a good time to visit as the “out of school” summer traffic hasn’t started yet. I live about 100 miles from Y’stone, Jackson and the Grand Tetons, we just day trip it to either of them.
When in Jackson be sure to see the Bar J Chuckwagon Dinner show. We see them 3 or 4 times every summer in Jackson plus any of their concerts when they are in the Idaho Falls, ID area.

I you want more specific information PM me.

Have visited Yellowstone 4 times in Mid June for a week to 10 days each time. It is a wonderful time to visit, no crowds, weather is reasonably good, warm days cool nights. Have seen snow on several occasions but it melted almost as fast as it accumulated. Stayed at Grizzly RV park each time rather than wheel the Motorhome around the park. Recommend taking day hikes, most of the major areas of interest have short circular hiking paths that get you off the beaten path, it amazing what you see when you venture 100 yds off the boardwalks and paved roads. Enjoy your stay it is an amazing place.
