Yellowstone Route?

My DW is concerned about traveling through Yellowstone with our 33' rig and Dinghy. Is it all 2 lane narrow and windy, or is there a nice wide route for class A non-white-knuckle travel?

we came in on the west entrance and they gave a map with directions the safest routes through...ended up going by the geyers and into our destination at Yellowstone Valley Inn...so now we are centrally located in 'wy to all

In the past 10-15 years the roads have been much improved. There are still a few areas without shoulders, but a lot have been straightened and widened. The speed is only 45 mph. During the day tour buses, RVs and autos all use the roads. At night tractor-trailer rigs supply all parts of the park with goods. It's really not an issue.

The only road to avoid with the rv is the Tower rd.

I traveled through the south, east and north entrances of Yellowstone with a 32 ft gasser towing a chevy equinox and can tell you it was no problem. You woudn't want an interstate going through the park so drive the speed limit and enjoy the scenery. Parking the tandem rig in some of the look outs might be a problem depending on the crouds. Just give yourself enough time to enjoy yourself.

Last week we entered from the East Gate and went through the West Gate for our stay then back through the West Gate and down to the South Gate to the Tetons and Jackson Hole where we are now. We drive a 40 foot diesel pusher and tow a car. Pushing about 36,000 lbs combination weight and had no problems. A few curves but nothing serious for a Tennessee boy. Just keep your speed down on the down hill grades and use gears. Some of the passes are over 8000 feet but you start at over 6000 feet so no big deal. We recently came from Rapid City, SD and the grades there are more serious because of how far you must climb or descend.

Safe travels,

Bob
