My Wife and I really enjoy spending time in Stanley, the area has loads of camp grounds and also dispersed camping and it helps that it is only about three hours away. Unlimited hiking, wild life (as in animals), old mining towns, fishing and much much more. Just don't plan on going there to camp before Memorial Day because of the snow and sometimes Memorial Day is questionable.

YES to everyplace mentioned so far. we just drove AROUND the country from NY to FL to CA to WA to AK back to Rochester on US 20 through Yellowstone - wow total trip 17000 miles and 9 months.
Add the Northeast, Adirondacks/White Mountains/Presidential Range Coast of Maine continue on up to NB and Gaspe THEN down to Nova Scotia - Cabot Trail, Halifax, Baddeck OMG stop me -
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway - oh someone said that already - has anyone mentioned The Natchez Trace Parkway - Nashville to Natchez at no more than 5o MPH. Oh and a stop in Memphis to visit the home of "The King" Graceland (pure glitz and totally over done and more fun because of it).
We have been back and forth 11 times coast to coast and we are rolling out for # 12 on this Friday - grandkids on both coasts. So far 135,000 miles on two coaches and rolling.

Mile by Mile.com may be useful in your planning. It has online road maps for Canada, Mexico, and the U.S.A., and it has scenic byway planning as well.

Vermilye, all I can say is WOW those are some great photos. My wife & I are planning a trip next summer to some of these National Parks in Utah. We will be driving our Toyota FJ Cruiser & camping in our back packing tent &/or using up the last of our timeshare weeks.
xctraveler, you are living the dream. Carry on & enjoy our great country.

We have dreamed it for years. It is a joy to have gotten here with the wherewithal and the health to make it possible.

Badlands National Park (U.S. National Park Service)
Badlands National Park
This was my first and most memorable National park visit in the RV. It can be done as a scenic loop drive just south off I-80 in western South Dakota.
Get a season pass and save big bucks on entry fees.

Since you are not in a hurry, stay off the interstates. Most everywhere you go two lane roads are available and many have minimal traffic(especially out West) and great views, etc. etc.
We prefer Alaska,Montana, Idaho, WY, Utah, NM, AZ and parts of Colorado.

Mt Rainier, Crater Lake, take the boat ride, Carlsbad Caverns, Mesa Verde, Arches NP are all fantastic. We have been on the road since 3/4 from Florida to Alaska and now in Texas heading toward Florida in January and we have seen some beautiful places. Those are my favorite places, but we didn't see the northern states or eastern coast. Where ever you travel you will see something really cool everyday. The National Parks are really great and you need to see as many of them as you can. You won't be disappointed! Just take your time and have FUN!!

Branson ?
Remove all of the billboards and the crass commercialism of the place and it might be worth visiting, but then, there would be nothing left. Good idea, remove it and start over. Table Rpck would be better without it.

The villiage green in Lexington, MA where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired & Concord, MA and the Old North Bridge where some of the British soldiers are buried at one end after the skirmish there after the march from Lexington.
Quincey, MA and the three homes of John Adams and his son John Quincey Adams. Also see the United First Parish Church where they and wives are buried.
While in the Boston area, run over to Charlestown to see the Bunker Hill Monument and "Old Ironsides" the USS Constitution.
Biltmore House in Asheville, NC has got to be on everyones bucket list. So are the "Summer Cottages" in Newport Rhode Island. The Breakers and Marble House, as was the Biltmore and other, were built by Cornelius Vanderbilt grandsons.
