Angry 1996 Alfa Gold 38RLT Landing Gear problem

The electric landing gear on my '96 Alfa Gold will not retract or extend. When activated it just Clicks loudly on the motor side of the assembly. I'm fairly decent at mechanics but looking inside the belly of the beast at the assembly, it appears to be quite a chore to disassemble. Has anyone done this particular model? Would I be better off taking it to a shop? Any idea where to get a diagram of the gear mechanism? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's just a motor. See if you're getting 12v to your motor, or both of if you have two.

ggale56,
I had a 97 Ideal and the landing gear was made by RBW. sounds like you might have broken a shearpin. The motor hooks up to a gear reduction assembly and that hooks up to the landing gear on that side, mine was on the left, and then coming out of the landing gear the cross shaft goes across the unit to drive the other landing gear.
Hope this helps you,
Frank

Landing gear

I'm sure it's in the gearing....guess I'll have to get my hands dirty! Thanks for the replies.

ggale56,
Why do you think it is in the gearing? My guess is that one of the pins that connect the shafts together sheared, that is what is giving you the clicking and no movement. There would be one between the motor and the gear reduction and one between the gear reduction and the first landing gear. You will have to get into the front compartment and get where you can see, then have someone work the switch and see what is rotating and what is not, then you will know what you have to take apart, if it is just the pin, line the holes and insert a new hardened pin.
