2000 Jayco

I just went and looked at a 2000 jayco designer. I do business with the owner through work and trust him he got it in 06. said he only used it 3 times a year stored indoors in his heated shop so its never needed to be winterized.
The owners before him were full timers. 37 ft looks real nice 3 slides. asking 17500. seems high but I know nothing about these. Price includes the 5th wheel hitch. What should I look out for on this model. I purposely went with out my wife so I had a good excuse to leave and do some online research.

For a 3710RLTS 2000 model, average retail is only 11,500. Now, he may have options, but not $6k worth of options.

Jayco are nice units but at that price that would be a little high, more like 2005 prices. Let the owner know a decent offer more like 12k if it's in good condition and let them sit on it a while. Good luck and happy trails.

That would be more like it. I pulled in and expected 10k but that was before I seen that it has 3 slides. From the road I could only see 2. I got sticker shock at 17500. I found another very similar for 6k but only one slide. I may just skip it. We have a good busness relationship i dont wnat to insult him with what he may think is a low ball offer. Its been for sale for a long time. Now I know why. Wait long enough price may drop.

Thank you all for your input.

In 2006 I traded in my 99 Jayco designer 3710 with the 4 door refer, outside shower and entertainment, convertable dinette etc. and it had also had installed built in central vac. It was a great trailer and had been towed all over the U.S. and canada. They gave 13,000 for it in 2006. Today that trailer is probably worth about 10,000-11,000$.

Tell him your bank will only loan book value and offer him that. He knows it value, he may be very well trying to take advantage of the business relationship himself.
