2002 Jayco Designer Legacy ??

New to rving although long time boater. I am contemplating the purchase of the above rig from a private party. Very nice shape, etc..
A local consignment shop owner said these were known for being difficult to tow. In addition the "low profile" hitch would limit me to an tow of roughly the same vintage.
He also said I should think only of a 1 ton dually tow.
He wasn't offering any purchase options, just commenting.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Designers are nice. What is the size, model, weight, that will determine what size truck you need. Some of the small - mid size Designers can be pulled with 3/4 ton trucks commonly.

Depending on RV, will determine parameters of what you need to pull it.

Its a 2002 Designer Legacy 37'. I don't have the gvw at my fingertips but I believe it's around 14,500.
