2006 Rampage 370 pin box moving

I recently bought a 2006 skyline rampage 370. When I hook up to it the frame on the front of the pin box moves 3/8 to 1/2 an inch up into the floor of the camper. The whole bottom in not covered and there are no broken welds. I am an experienced welder and I tried adding an extra 2x2x1/4 tubing on the bottom of the side frame and it didn't make much of a difference. Any suggestions?

Maybe Skyline can send you the build drawing for the pin box. Something is broken inside. It should not move that much. As a welder it would be a cheap repair!

I just found in another forum that an extended pin box will cause this also, and the guy I bought it from put 1 on it. Does that make any sense?

Yes. The longer the distance from the mount to the kingpin the greater the stress on the mount. It acts like a “cheater bar” on a wrench and applies more torsional force to the pinbox mount.

The front of the trailer also depends on strength from the sidewalls, If they have let loose, it will move.

I finished welding in 2 supports I added and tightened 4 bolts that are through the frame in the front corners and now I got the movement down to 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch
