2020 GMC Sierra HD pickup has X-ray vision

Way cool but these new tricked out heavy duty trucks are to rich for our blood.

The 2500 and 3500 trucks will be available with a 360-degree camera system that can virtually “see” through a trailer.

BTW, your thoughts on the—optional 6.6-liter Duramax diesel as an update of the current truck's that will be rated at 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque.

Calling it "X-ray" is probably a stretch. My guess is it comes with wireless camera lenses that have to be mounted on the rear and inside of the trailer. Then for the X-ray effect, it links with the tailgate camera and gives the illusion it's looking through the trailer. Pretty cool technology either way.

My 18 Chevy 3500 DRW has the upgraded Duramax motor and with 5k miles pulling a 16k fifth wheel, it has performed flawless.
GM updated the Duramax motor for 2017 models, so they have a couple years of service/history now. It's a great motor!

I bet it will require an $800 add on camera that gets hard-wired to the trailer, similar to what Ford charges for their add-on trailer camera.

For that price and labor, I'll stick with my wireless Furrion observation camera that gives me plenty of rear view.

I have the camera system on my Ford but not the trailer mounted camera, which is an additional option. I want something that gives me a constant view of what is behind the trailer so I have an aftermarket system. The Ford one is only a back up camera that works only in reverse. I would hope GM gives the option of having that view on full time, which it appears it does. This is my first Ford in many years after having nothing but GM but when the time comes in a few years I will look at the other two. I have certainly been happy with my Ford but since they are all good at what they do might as well give them all a look.

That is what we have and it works great. Just kind of a pain finding a good spot for the monitor.

I had a 2011 and 2013 D'max. I know have a 2018 and I love it! The upgraded engine came out in 2017 and will be carried over into the 2020 HD trucks. My 2 previous ones had zero issues and 2018 is same thus far. I'm only shy of 10k miles 60% of that towing. Love the truck.
