245/75/16 on 16x6.5 etrailer wheel??

Yes, it will work. But the tire at full rated psi will probably be 'crowned' in the middle of the tread and cause a little more wear in the center, and slightly decreas the tread contact area for braking purposes.

All the tire manufacturers and all the wheel manufacturers will tell you to NEVER mount a 16" tire on a 16.5" wheel, or a 16.5" tire on a 16" wheel. It will probablyresult in a short marriage and a quick divorce.

The OP isn't using a 16.5" wheel. He wants to use a 16" wheel that's 6.5" wide.

Yep. Brain fade.

The specs for any size tire will tell you the acceptable wheel width range that it will fit. That size tire requires wheels from 6.5" wide to 8" wide. So 6.5" wide wheel is fine. Example: Specs for BFGoodrich*Commercial T/A All-Season LT245/75R16.
