What is the "official" definition of 50 Amp service?
With 50 Amp service you are taking advantage of 220 Volt input with:
A. 25 Amp breakers on each leg?
B. 50 Amp breakers on each leg?
C. A 30 Amp breaker on one leg and a 20 Amp breaker on the other?
I have had "experts tell me all of the above

Yes it is 220v if you measure across the legs. Just like in your house. 220vv across the legs, 110v each leg to ground.
Jack the correct answer is "B"........ A 50 amp breaker on each leg. (A Duplex breaker like in your house, one for each leg)
BTW, WHERE THE HECK YA BEEN??????????????????
With this 50 amp question...... Does that mean a "Rig upgrade" is in the near future????????????

I have been at a few campgrounds that have said 25 on each leg I thought the main panel on 50 amp rigs had a 50 amp on each leg.

Don:
No new rig in plans. Current rig is in shop with "big time" water damage. Don't know how to post pictures of it.
Give me a call when you get time
Jack

If I can remember........... I'll give ya a call this weekend.
Sorry to hear about the water damage. It does not take long for a small leak somewhere to do damage. Of course it is ALWAYS in an area that is HARD to fix...... (Well that is how my luck has always seemed to be anyway)

Jack, this page on my site might help you understand it.
http://www.bobhatch.com/electricStuff/30to50amp.htm
It's my conversion from 30 amp to 50 amp, but the entire project was done according to the wiring diagram from Winnebago.

Thanks for the kind words, Jack.
A few weeks ago I was talking to Winnebago Customer Service at the factory, about something. Don't remember what it was now, but, I told the guy about my conversion, and he started asking questions about costs, etc. I told him about he web page, and he looked at it while I was on the phone, then asked if it was OK to refer people to the site. He said they had a lot of calls regarding the process, and costs.
It was, at least for me, a fun and educational project.
