5th wheel brake adjustment

What is the recommended mileage for having the brakes checked and adjusted on a new (10 months) 5th wheel. We have logged 3000 miles at this time.

Welcome to IRV2, In NY at least one has one has to be inspected every year. I pay an additional $20 to have all wheels removed, inspected, adjusted each time and the bearings inspected and repacked every other year. It’s little to pay for peace of mind a long ways from home.

All axle manufacturers recommend(standard axles) annual bearing removal, inspection, repacking, re-assembly. This is an excellent time to inspect, adjust the brakes, test for proper operation. The actual brake adjustment recommendation is 10K miles, I think.They adjust exactly the same way as automotive drum brakes, unless you have the relatively new self-adjusting type.
