5th Wheel Dolly

Has anyone seen this video? https://youtu.be/b734eSPO1gI

It's a dolly designed for gooseneck and 5th wheels. It looks interesting and if legit could save $$ when choosing a tow vehicle

Not sure I want to be pulling 12000 pound with a mid-size SUV as shown. Yea, it can pull in! but controlling it in cross wind and stopping it???? IDK

It might be able to tow it, the TV will still need the equipment to tow the weight. Another item would be, could the TV stop if the brakes fail on the tow dolly/trailer. I will stick with my 5th wheel truck combo.

This appears to be a copy of the Automated Safety Hitch that's been around for several years. The predecessor appears to be more robust (an F350 axle and two points of contact instead of one for example). The biggest concerns I've had with the Automated Safety Hitch have been the cost ($10,000+) and concerns about the added complexity of another "system" for things to potentially break down. I'm skeptical about the value this brings--especially in light of the add proposing its use with vehicles that are totally inappropriate for towing a 10,000 pound trailer. Think stability and torque and horsepower, just to name a few.

Imagine driving downhill and having to rely 100% on the trailer brakes 100% of the time - suicide.

They should name that video what not to do. They say to LEAVE the trailer cord in and drive off to disconnect the trailer?!?!? I don't know about everyone else but on all the trailers and trucks I've owned the 7 way wire harness has a tab to lock in so it won't fall out while traveling. If he designed this thing so you can drive away and the cord just falls right out without damage, than what's to stop it from falling out during travel and loosing all trailer brakes? If that happens you won't know it till your in the back seat of the car in front of you.

I agree it is a cheap copy if the ASH made by Joe Jamiesen. Where are the attachment points for the safety chains that I would not want to trust their strength in an emergency? At least Jamiesen claimed to have his approved in all 50 states.
