I suspect it has more to do with what your insurance company has on record for replacement cost, and their actuarial tables. It does pay to shop around, however I have had good success talking to my insurance company every couple of years and revisiting my coverage and adjusting my coverage needs. Insurance actuarial tables also change.
rates will change state to state, and in different regions.
For reference, my 5ver insurance was tied to my house insurance (in 2013), 2011 Heartland landmark MSRP 110k, replacement 60K (what I thought I'd spend to replace if totalled) and I paid 600 per year. A point for reference.
Hope this helps,
Brian
