5th Wheel Insurance

My insurance has always just been tied to my tow-vehicle and admittedly I don't pay that much attention. I got my renewal yesterday and seemed high so I looked at all the fine print. The 5th wheel is adding $221 every 6 months which strikes me as pretty high. Is this anywhere close to what everyone is paying?

My 5th is a 2016 Keystone Hideout 308BHDS - 35', pretty low end unit. MSRP was around 47K. I paid about 31K almost 2 years ago.

I suspect it has more to do with what your insurance company has on record for replacement cost, and their actuarial tables. It does pay to shop around, however I have had good success talking to my insurance company every couple of years and revisiting my coverage and adjusting my coverage needs. Insurance actuarial tables also change.

rates will change state to state, and in different regions.

For reference, my 5ver insurance was tied to my house insurance (in 2013), 2011 Heartland landmark MSRP 110k, replacement 60K (what I thought I'd spend to replace if totalled) and I paid 600 per year. A point for reference.

Hope this helps,
Brian

Replacement costs, garaged location and driver's record determine the costs.

No accidents or tickets = lower premiums.

At least in California.....

on my 1st 5th wheel it was tied to my truck and not much of an increase on the truck insurance basically it was covered while towing but nothing else. my new 2016 3720RL (value around 65-70 thousand) Montana the bank wanted a separate policy for coverage like my house, with full replacement value. just as Brian stated.
I'm paying around $500 year not full timing. with another quote from my home owners policy they would write a policy for the 5th but not replacement value and the bank would not accept that.
