I probably should have titled this RBW 5th wheel Jacks and the lack of!

I have never got into a mess like this before, at least for awhile. I just wanted to replace the gears in the top of the leg of my jacks since they had failed. Well, this turned into the biggest mess I have even seen. Bottom line, RBW doesn't have anyway of knowing what gear sets you need. I had the year but no way of finding out what model, nothing on the legs. I took the gears in and was given a set of gears that weren't even close. BIG, BIG deal here, whatever you do, don't lose your original gears!!! I did and now I'm at their mercy. There is no way to determine what you really need. RBW sells two different sets, neither of which is for my leg. I've also had a call into RBW for two days without a call back. Good customer service!

Anyway, rant off. Bottom line, be very careful when replacing gears, the bushings, shafts and all can and will be subject to change and may or may not fit your leg assy.

I managed to get a set to work by doing some engineering but who knows how long it will last, spent two weeks messing with this. Next time I will just replace the whole mess. Think thats what they want you to do anyway. More money!

Aren't we glad airplane parts are not from the cheapest supplier?

Tom - sorry to hear the problem. I have the RBW jack system, & saw your earlier posts. Mine is an older unit, `95 and came with a product booklet. I am guessing you have tried to get some assistence from TERRY. It would be helpful if they kept the products used to assemble your unit available.
