5th wheel pin locks
Do you put a lock on the king pin when at campsite or storage ? if so ,what brand ? I'm not sure if its the same company but I saw on by atwood that clamped around the pin and was about $80,totally encasing the pin in steel. thanks

I do usually put my lock on when I unhitch. I think mine was about $20 and it would be quite a bit of trouble to get it off. No lock is just a little too inviting, especially if it is just sitting with the slides in and ready to hook and go. I think I could back under someone's trailer and be out of there in about a minute if it was not locked.

We bought ours at aa truck stop many years ago. While "not" cheap, I don't think that even at today's prices it would be $80.00! It's a pretty well built lock. And yes, we do use it!! memtb

Depends where we are - in campgrounds, with the slides out no (my lock currently is in the basement). There are slides out, power and water hooked in, etc etc.
If we leave the trailer anywhere seriously remote - Think desert boondocking, or if we drop it somewhere temporarily with the slides in for any reason, absolutely.
Basically lock it where you feel comfortable..
I think our lock was about $25 on amazon. I'm guessing someone could just drill out the lock if they wanted, but again, locks are to keep people honest...

Yes I do use a pin locks whenever unhitched- duh. As others said if its sitting there slides in and idle its very easy to hitch up and be gone. I have no idea of how frequent issue this is, but a small investment can deter a thief. It's a RoadPro RPKPSL-2 all steel lock. It fully encloses the entire king pin and would be a pain getting off. It cost about $30 on Amazon. Encourage them to steel the next one without a lock.
Happy and safe travels.

I don't have a pin lock, but I have thought about modifying my pinbox bipod stabilizer to accept a padlock. Can't remember ever dropping the trailer anywhere other then a campsite yet, but either way that would just be more for the would-b-theif to have to mess with. As an after thought, those pinbox stabilizers probably aren't useful with a leveling system are they. My current rig doesn't have them.

No, lock for me either, great insurance also. I do store my 5er in a fenced in storage yard with cameras that is key pad accessed in off hours. I have been in the office to pay the storage fee and the cameras do work and are recording, the attendant is monitoring them during the day. Each person is assigned a unique key pad access code to the gate that corresponds to your location. I know my storage lot was blocked by another user when I went to return my trailer once and I was given a temporary code for a different site for my trailer until my site was freed up.

They can have it if they want it that bad. Yes we do like our 5th wheel but they would need a 3/4 ton truck at min and an Anderson 5th hitch. Good luck with that.

I use a Husky lock, more for my piece of mind. We store it in a storage yard with a full time caretaker, but it takes less than a minute to install.

So how do you have the adapter locked on?
I saw an Ultimate 5th wheel adapter lock on Amazon the other day. Curious if you are using that?
