Not my intent to hi-jack a thread, but a reference here would be nice. I have never heard his before.

I believe that if you drive on concrete (cement) with rubber tires, they will wear out...

They won't wear out if you drive exclusively on asphalt?

Nope, the chemisty is different. Black tires/black asphalt. Concrete is gray or white, which I believe is causing the problem. This wear problem on concrete might, just might, be alleviated by painting the tires grey.

Talking Update!!! Finally!!!

Okay everyone...I finally have an update for you. We got a call last week saying that the installers of the structure would be here Wednesday. On Monday we got a call saying that they would have to come on Thursday due to the truck breaking down and causing the installers to be delayed. This little set back got us another $75 credit on the building. So...after a long 4-6 weeks here are the pic's of the structure being built and then the 5'ver and truck in their proper place.

This is what I came home to from work. Three installers setting up to get the structure in place

The frame work nearly complete

The roof going up

Almost wrapped up

And the finished product.

We are going to remove the pile of dirt and open up the ground a little more to include a path for the truck parking area. But that will be waiting until May.

Thanks for looking everyone.

I was wondering the same thing however if it's considered a temporary structure then it's likely OK for building codes.

The neighbor issue is a totally different question. If I was the neighbor is wouldn't bother be although I think I would have liked the side wall to come down to the fence level.

Looks good. It wouldn't pass codes here though. Even though it's a car port and not considered permanent, it couldn't have less than 10' between it and another structure unless it was permanently attached and then you would have to supply plans and get a building permit. Here it also needs at least 6' between it and the property line.
