5th Wheel Towing Tailgate

Our new F350 Lariat came with the "wonder tailgate" with steps, camera, and who knows what else besides a $3k price tag. The primary purpose of the truck is to tow our 5'ver. Previously we used an after- market towing tailgate that clearly wont fit the new truck. I have searched diligently for a comparable after-market tailgate for our 2019 and came up empty. They stopped with the 2016's. Are there ANY 5th whl designed tailgates for the Super duty series after 2016?
Regards and Thanks
Bill

NOPE.........

Take your Stock wonder tailgate to a body shop and have a custom mod done

Have them 'U' notch it.
Thus retaining all the 'wonderments' and have a 5vr tailgate

Tailgate

There is this.

You loose the camera and the ladder though. Somewhere I saw an adapter to retain the camera in an external housing. Also there is an insert for the notch to seal the bed

Just curious as to why the need for a fifth wheel tailgate? We just raise and lower our factory tailgate as needed. As a retired automotive engineer, the tailgate is a integral design of the truck box strength.

The notched tailgates is simply a way to skip a step unhitching/hitching up. Possibly for someone who has released the hitch and forgot to drop the tailgate. I agree that bedsides stability needs a tailgate of some sort---have seen some pickups with out one of either kind with the bedside wobbling. I admit to couple of times coming close to not lowering the tailgate before heading for the cab.
I certainly would not hack up a new tailgate losing all the 'wonderments'--no way to make the notch and keep the 'wonderments.'

I would buy a standard model to have a notch put in instead of cutting up the factory original one. You could probably find one on cl or fb for alot less than new. Who cares if it matches if youre having it notched it will need painted anyway.

Its just so much more convenient to have a notched tailgate. They are very popular on the west coast. Getting a new one for the F350 is proving to be too much of a hassle and I just will pass on it for now. The electronics just make it too complicated and expensive.

There are many studies that prove the mileage improvement is a myth. The air gate is still 50% blocked off.

There are always hassles to anything. Sure its a hassle to raise and lower the gate but I use my truck bed for day to day things when not hooked up to something. I have a 40ft goose neck triple axle boat trailer too. So the tail gate stays. It is just something I deal with.
