2008 Heartland. I beams 6 ft. Apart on rear can a hitch be welded. 3/3 in. Sq. Tub across with a 2 in. Receiver center. To hold 400 to 600 lb. Any advice. Do new 5vers have a hitch in place to hold 400 to 500 tounge weight.

Only some manufacturers install it from the factory. I've seen Double Tree RV Mobile Suites, and high end units, but never Heartlands.

A buddy of mine has as '14 Bighorn 3875FB and the dealer told him the brackets that are already welded to the I beams were for an optional bike rack. But apparently Heartland stopped offering the bike rack option. Thats all I can tell you, other than the 2 brackets look extremely feable, however the I beam seems sturdy enough I would worry about the extra weight hanging on the already long overhang. Just my 2 cents.

Lippert-the frame manufacturer- will void the warranty on a new unit if any welding of the frame is done. Since your's is well out of warranty, that won't matter, so find a welder and go for it.

DRV will not install a lift at the factory because of the Lippert warranty. Excel stopped offering this option in the past couple of months. New Horizons will install it on their units.

Having 600 pounds hanging so far back from the rear wheels puts a lot of stress on the frame. I don't know the size of the Heartland frame but be careful with adding a lift or hitch. If the frame twists or bends you will have problems with slide outs and doors not functioning correctly.

I added a hitch (specialized for a swivelwheel) to my Coachmen. It came with 12 inch I-beams though. Welding runs about 6-8 ft up the I-beams.
