I just bought a new (to me) 5'er. It's a 1999 Alpenlite Shorecliff 35 (36' 7")triple slide. It is in great shape, full load with all in one washer and dryer. I found a dealer in Calgary who was moving across town and was looking to sell as much as they could. It was listed on sale at $49800 Can ($37820 US). I looked at it and liked it last Tuesday, went away and never thought about it again untill Friday. I called them and put in an offer I thought they would laugh at of $35000 Can ($26581 US)AND THEY TOOK IT !!!!!!!!!! I was in shock, but I went and picked it up that day. I went over it all weekend and could not find anything wrong with it, and it has been at my RV shop (a buddy ownes it) getting solar and inverter from my old 5'er installed, along with auto trac sattilite and a few other toys and they went over it and say it is in perfect shape. I think I did OK. Anybody have any experiance with this model?
Cheers

Hi,
Sorry about that, thought you wanted replies from people who had the same model you have. We have a '98, 31' Augusta. Like it a lot. It's got 2 slides, washer/dryer, central vac, inverter, solar panel, the whole 9 yards. We are the 3rd owner. The only troubles we've had were with the axle (a weld let go) and the spring hanger channel where it's welded to the frame. The axle failure may have been aggravated by bottoming shocks due to a faulty axle flip done by a previous owner's dealer (my opinion). Seems to me the spring hanger channel legs are to long. I had them all boxed in so they couldn't flex so much.
Good luck with your new rig.
Bob

Slideout...We purhased a used 99 about a year ago. Totally enjoy it, well built and no problems.
I have heard from a previous Alpenlite dealer that Alpenlite started cutting corners around 2002, still keeping the $$ up there, and are not the same quality as the earlier years. I don't know how true this is but just sharing what I've heard.

I am VERY impressed with my 1999 Alpinlite. Have stayed in it for 3 months before the cold weather set in for the winter. I don't think it was used much befor I got it, but it sure is being used now. End of feb we are going south for a 6 week tour of the west coast, then out to where I work (60 miles from home, I stay in it 5 or 6 days of the week) Then at the end of May we are off to Memphis TN to meet a group of bikers for a party and then back to work untill the snow flies.
Cheers

Thanks...... folks for your suggestions... on Alpenlite! Is every Manufacturer "cutting back" on quality? Hummmmm sounds like find a earlier year (with even Alfa products now too) Newmar might be a good one too to look and research? :-)

Can't speak to "all manufacturere" cutting back on quality, but when we decided to upsize from our 1998 Carriage LS341 we quickly scratched Carriage products from consideration. Bought an Excel and are reasonably well satisfied.
Good Luck, Jim
