Hello everyone, the problem I'm having is with the a/c fan it doesn't want to spin after sitting a few weeks. I can take the cover off the a/c unit and manually spin it a little to free it up and then it works ok. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have a fix? Or any ideas T.I.A. Ed

Locate the profile for RVwizard and send a PM with this question, he's a professional repairman. My opinion is the start capacitor is bad, if your unit utilizes one.

I had the problem once before. I removed the cover and found that the fan shaft was covered with tree sap, when we bought the trailer it had been sitting under a maple tree for about a year) I used a little degreaser on the fan shafts and free spun the shaft a few turns. I then lubed the bearing areas with a lite grease used for small motors. Have not had any problems for over a year now.

We recently had a problem with our a/c unit. Whenever we would turn it on it would vibrate the whole trailer. Fast speed was completely unbearable to be in the trailer. Low speed wasn't much better. My brother is an RV tech. at a dealership in North TX. I told him the problem and he told us to take the cover off the a/c unit and check to see if it had mud daubber nexts in it. Sure enough, my husband had the problem solved in less than 15 minutes. The dealership here locally wasn't going to be able to get us in for 2 weeks and at the current time we were having to sleep in our camper due to our a/c in the house was burned up from a storm we had with 90mph+ winds and a power surge prior to the power going off. We were out of power for 5 days. then had a/c for a day before finding the a/c problem in the house, then was without a/c for 7 more days. What a fun summer.

Tuke,
If you have a Dometic AC unit this is a common problem. Your unit appears to be fairly new so the fan motor should be replaced under warranty. I have an old unit ('94) that does the same thing. No warranty for me... Rather than pull the cover off, I use a huge Home Depot paint stirrer to give the fan blade a push. I can slip it thru the vent slots in the cover. Only had to do it once this season.
