Hello all,

When I was checking brakes and bearings on my Titanium for the first time, the 4th wheel had a cross-threaded axle nut. I successfully removed and reinstalled it.

What size die do I need to cut new threads?
The axle is standard Dexter with 12in x 2in brakes.

I'll need a new nut too.
(the 5'er is out of warranty)

Thank you for your time and consideration.

The nut should be made of softer steel than the axle, buy a new nut and a thread file.clean up the threads install the new nut and torque it to specs and drive on.

If you have sealed bearings on your axles, ?, you'll need to get another nut. They are designed to be used one time. Torque around 320lbs. Check you manufacturers recommendations if this is the case. He can also tell you about the axle or direct you to the manufacturer.

Thank you for your replies.

I am going to try a thread-chaser and a new spindle nut.
