Advise re - Dexter D60 axle, hub & bearings

My '06 Montana 3400RL has Dexter D60 leaf spring axles. I intend to pull the wheels, inspect the brakes and replace the bearings....unless you guys talk me off the ledge. Hubs have the EZ fitting but I intend to hand pack. Previous owner who had it for 2 years pulled it <1000 miles and said he had never added grease

Any and all comments/advise will be appreciated regarding
- best synthetic grease to pack the bearing?
- best replacement bearings & where to purchase?
- anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks!!

I take down the bearings on my 5er every few years and clean/pack the bearings... and would only replace the bearings if there was a problem... I have the ez pack system but hardly use it.... the key is to set the pre-load correctly to begin with...

Remember that vehicles, before front wheel drive when between brake jobs on bearing packs... and there's no reason that trailer bearings packed correctly and torqued correctly won't go 15k to 20K miles between inspections...

I do carry a thermal thermometer and walk around the truck/trailer a couple of times a day at rest stops and check the temperature of the hubs, brake drums and tires...

I've noticed that the tires run in the 110-120* range... with the side to the sun 15* higher... hub temperature runs 95-120*F except on days over 100*.. I do look for even temperatures across the brakes or hubs or tires...
