Alfa 5th hitch pin...

I'm looking at a truck to tow a 38 see ya, it has a gooseneck set up. The see ya has the pad/pin setup.
Any recommendations as to the use of a goose adaptor as opposed to installation of an Elite series platform?
The truck is a c4500 with air ride.

It the truck has a setup for a gooseneck, then take a look at B&W hitches...

5th Wheel, Truck Hitches & Accessories | B & W Trailer Hitches

They ought to have something that will work, and they are high-quality products.

Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter - 12" to 16" Tall - 20,000 lbs Convert-A-Ball Gooseneck and Fifth Wheel Adapters CAB-C5G
Thanks Joe.
Yes solid products.
I use etrailer site, as, I have found, their prices beat the dealers. Their customer service and demonstrations are laudable.
I'm looking at a 5th to goose ball adapter that's adjustable and cushioned.I can't get the link down here where it belongs, it won't paste here... oh well.
Has anyone out there used one of these?

Alfa 5ths do not have extended pin boxes, at least all that I have seen. Alfa factory closed down.
Will I need a short box or shorter toter bed to tow it.?

What is the GVWR of the trailer? Probably heavy. I wouldn't do it with a GN, but that's me . . .

I would not use that adapter, at all. Installed it, didn't like it's setup at all.

If anything, use a GooseBox by Reese.

The collar and mounting did not seem very secure, not as well as other brands.

I have towed with goosenecks and fifth wheels, and different pin boxes. Nothing beats a fifth wheel, except an air ride fifth wheel.

Yes, I thought that a bolt on or weld on unit was more secure. I was concerned that the height adjustment feature might be susceptible to slipping , with only 3 set bolts. I'm unsure of that design. I guess , when in doubt, don't ...
Thanks

tomhruska,
I have an 07 Alfa Gold, and I have the extended pin box, it is the airbourne airride box, came from the factory that way, it is not extended as far as the sidewinder, but farther than the standard pinbox. I wouldn't try the gooseneck adapter, these frames aren't designed to handle the type of stresses that the gooseneck puts on them.
My pin sits just about at the furtheset point forward of the front cap. If you have any questions, just ask, I will do my best to answer.
Frank

well I used an adapter to my goose bed hitch. It was that or change to a toter bed, or lift the trailer off the axles. It tows like a champ.
