I think if you tell Anderson that you have the Ford puck system they will cut a hole in the floor plate to accommodate access to the puck on each side. I think its just the 2 rear pucks not all 4 of them.

I don't use chains. If you have a RAM truck equipped with factory 5th wheel/goose neck hitch prep, the Andersen will not prevent you from installing RAM chain attachments.
Happy trails,

That is awesome, I had not read that about the access holes. This is the perfect solution. Thanks for the pic/post!

I have a brother who is very happy with the Anderson 5th.wheel hitch. The dealer told him it is not needed. I disagree, I have a Reese Goosebox hitch, and it takes about 10 seconds to hook up the chains. Then I have a back-up safety system to protect my truck, trailer and others that travel the highway. I really can't see how you could justify not having them, and it's the law. (Really) All things can fail, would you jump with only one parachute? I did cut mine down a little, to be tight before the hitch would hit the tailgate.

We also have the 20K Reese Goose Box and are very happy with it. The only issue we had was a bad valve stem when new, which I replaced and it's been fine since.
Not going to get into the chain issue except to say know the state law. Don't listen to peoples opinion on the internet, spend a few minutes and look it up.

Agree. I went ahead a hooked up some safety chains on my Anderson. Made me feel a little bit better... and possibly avoid some trouble with the law.

Andersen ultimate owners--chains?
Just wondering...Why have chains on the 5th wheel to truck?. The breakaway is there to brake the trailer in the event of hitching failure.. with a standard fifth wheel setup, no chains are required..I had the Andersen and did not chain it. If it's the law, then the chains should be included with the hitch....

It's not the law in every state. I'm in CA and it is the law. The distinction is a 'ball coupler' sometimes require chains. I've never been inspected for chains. But it only takes seconds to slap them on. For me it's automatic no matter where I'm at.

Anderson now (on the web) calls for breakaway chains on their hitches.
Yup, you'd think they would include them on the hitches.

JMO but I see the Andersen as a ball coupler only in a different spot. Really whats the difference between it and a TT coupler? Nothing. It's just located in the trucks bed and not near the bumper.
