I took our fiver in for service the other day. I had called Northwood in Virginia about the roof coming unglued at the front, to get it fixed locally. I have four places about 3 ft long. Each trip it seems they are getting a little worse. The dealer that is doing the service said I needed a new roof for $2800. Northwood said noway I need a roof. I got two more trips this year before taking it to the Northwood to be fixed. I have put Eternabond across the front to get me thru these two trips. How far does the rubber go under the front cap? I don't seem to have a leak.

Tom,

Sorry to hear that your servicing dealer disagrees with your OEM manufacturer (Northwood). Are you still under warranty on this?

Also, considering Northwood is saying replacement of the roof isn't necessary, do they suggest a way to glue it back down? Would the rubber need to be pulled away from the roof to provide for gluing it back down?

Richard,
Northwood is going to fix it after November. It is under warrenty. I am going to have to take it to Newport News where I bought it, and someone will pick it up and take it to Winchester, Va. I sent them a picture of my problem. It looks like the glue is letting go on the front. You can push it down but it will not stay.

This is a worst case scenario, but if the dealer doesn't agree with what the manufacturer is suggesting, make sure the manufacturer isn't "patching" the roof in spots which will void its warranty.

Just in case, take pictures of the ouside condition of your trailer, picutres of the roof gutters, pictures inside the trailer along with the ones you already of the problem and keep them handy for when the trailer comes back just in case.

Tell the dealer to inspect the trailer when it comes back. Tell them if there is anything wrong, that the dealer can send it back untill it is done to your satisfaction.

Hope all goes well and it is fixed right the first time and please post how everything works out.

Mike

I just got it back today from being service. I looked at it again after I got home and there seems to be a place a couple feet square where the glue had let go. We are going to the fall rally in Whitter and try to get it fixed when we get back. While it was being service we had over ten inches of rain and no leaks.
